Edit Summaries Three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, he and the remaining Kings of Tampa hit the road to Myrtle Beach to put on one last blow-out performance. It's been three years since Tampa based Mike Lane transitioned from the life of a stripper - his stage name being Magic Mike - to his dream of starting his own custom furniture business, those three years mixed in terms of the goods and bads for him personally. His ex-troupe, the Kings of Tampa, minus who was their boss, Dallas, stop off in Tampa from their current home base in Miami on a road trip to a stripper convention in Myrtle Beach. As the remaining troupe members are nearing the end of their stripping lives, they, like Mike, who are at an advanced age beyond that of most strippers, they see this convention as their final hurrah in this life. Mike decides to join his old friends on the road trip to this send off. The current troupe members start to have their own dreams about their futures in being with Mike, while Mike has his own envy of his friends in his current life not being everything he hoped it would be.

Maybe I just don't drink enough. Or maybe you need to be sexually frustrated to enjoy this movie. I don't think the dancing is especially sexy -- all that gyrating just reminds me of my dog humping air.. And it doesn't have artistic value. But there is something nice about smiling, handsome men having fun. Mr. Tatum is nice to look at and has some charm. And Ms. Pinket-Smith has something going on with her girl power. On the surface it's a movie about male strippers. I'm 100% sure that's all the filmmakers intended it to be. An entertaining movie about male strippers. Under the surface it's surprisingly forward thinking. Many of the actors, and some characters, are in the LGBT community and the subject is treated with respect. They handle the subject of aging well. They're pretty respectful of women in general. Powerful people of color and women are portrayed. And they all have a healthy male friendship. It's kinda wild seeing that in a movie about male entertainers. But... if you're looking for a movie where hot guys dance to early 2000s - semi modern hits this is the one. In the sequel – directed by Soderbergh's long-time filmmaking partner Gregory Jacobs, who produced the original – those characters are doing everything they can not to think about an uncertain future. Jacobs stages a series of exuberant dance numbers broken up by scenes in which hot guys goof around together. And he's made room for new female characters – played by the likes of Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Heard and Andie MacDowell – who are more fully realized, and more dynamic, than most of the guys. Channing Tatum continues to find new depths in the superficial but striving Mike, Donald Glover breaks out as a performer who knows exactly how to play to his audience, and Joe Manganiello's Big Dick Richie gets the movie's single best scene.
