[1] Plot [ edit] This film begins with a chase scene where two security guards are chasing two thieves wearing masks, catching up to them only to be beaten down by a third thief. They return to their hideout to reveal that they were unable to crack the safe but were able to yank off a rare Rs. 5 crore (or $724, 000) necklace off of the homeowner's neck. The homeowners call their nephew James, who is a police detective, investigates it. The theives are chased by the police and Sachi the 2nd thief hides it in a bag bag is later taken by Mani a kid. Soon after the chase James reveals that Murugan the 3rd thief is a notorious criminal with a grudge on James. Finally the necklace reaches James and James catches Murugan and kills him. Cast [ edit] Production [ edit] Development [ edit] Cinematographer Shamdat is marking his directorial debut. [3] Eager to direct a film, he watched many short films, and one of them led him into contacting its maker Fawaz Mohamed.

As is to be expected from an experienced cinematographer, Shamdat Sainudeen has nice visuals in his debut directorial. The flavour of the film is that each character is well developed and is not obsessed with the protagonist. Actor Soubin Shahir who plays Subin and child artiste Adhish Praveen as Mani stand out with their performances. The not-so-smart thieves Sachi and Raju keep the humour quotient high. Ligomol Jose's role as Remya makes a perfect combo with Soubin's role Subin just the way they grabbed the audience's attention in Maheshinte Prathikaram. Though Mammootty handles the cop role once again with ease, the film doesn't give him too many punch dialogues or acting potential but has a few action scenes choreographed by Stunt Silva, who also plays the villain in the movie. Touted as an action packed film, it fails to create thrills except for a few sequences when James takes on Tamil goons. The investigation takes James to Tamil Nadu, creating relevance for a bilingual. Though being on the side of the law, James takes law into his hands, which is not all that logical.

If you are wondering why the film is titled 'Street Lights', the answer is that the street lights are not always well-lit, while some may be bright, others are not; just like characters in the movie, some of whom provide light and some spread darkness. The film revolves around the robbery committed by besties Sachi (Hareesh Perummana) and Raju (Dharmajan Bolgatty) along with their new team member Murugan (Stunt Silva) from the house of a wealthy jewellery owner of the city, Simon (Joy Mathew). Mammootty fans are sure to go into raptures as he makes an entry in kakhi pants and colour shirt, riding a bullet. But there is not much else for them as the film is not about him but rather about his encounters.
