As usually happens when revisiting childhood media, I was suprised at the content. 1. The swears! Why did my parents let me watch this?!? 2. The violence! While tasteful and clever fight scenes, the kidnapping was dramatic for my kids. But the moms always die in the Disney universe too, so... 3. The rating! This day and age, it's probably a pg14, not R, even with the Tarantino-esque sword scenes. 4. The growth mindset philosophy! Now I know why it stuck with me all these years. And the undercurrent of forgiveness. This is worth a watch with your pre teens, even to kindly laugh at the campiness of it (and secretly snicker at the adult jokes). I'm so glad it was available digitally. "You're crying.
