… I really liked this. A taut and economical paranoia thriller that is really well done and slow-burns to one hell of a dark climax. Feels similar to Ana Asensio's terrific MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND in the way it addresses the existential horror of the immigrant experience. "Everything will burn and disappear. "-Yashraf Yashraf is caring for a villa while its owners are away during a stifling heat wave and water shortage. Is someone messing with Yashraf or is he literally going crazy from the heat. This is more of a thriller. This film just feels hot. Greece looks like Arizona, it's so dusty and dry. It is beautifully shot. The acting is good. The story is simple, but not much really happens. There are a lot of shadows and footsteps but that's about it. There is a scene with a cat that maybe upsetting to some. It was okay. 6/10 This movie can mess with your perception of time. Half hour can go by and it feels like no time passed at all-that's good pacing. This movie also reminded me of a far less frantic version of Miracle Mile.

I liked what I saw though I'm not sure what I saw had a point. Set during a Grecian heat wave, one man's temperature-driven psychosis is a tumble down the sweatiest rabbit hole. "Slow burn" to the millionth degree, and not in the best way. Bit of a dud for me, but if you're into "art-house" horror that's super light on horror, give it a go? A heat wave, isolation, water scarcity, and political unrest. And you summer was full of fun under the sun, didn't you? Well, this movie is anything but. In fact, its atmosphere becomes more and more unsettling with each day, which is an approach that is conveyed in two instances. The first one that comes to mind is that the characters that Ashraf meets have their quirks, such as a lady whose gazing into an empty mug gives off the impression that she is telling his fortune. It's unwarranted, and so it only adds to the sense of psychological unease. The second factor is the paranoia that Ashraf experiences, particularity due to the shadowy figure that he sees in the villa.
