Versione cinematografica dell' omonimo romanzo di Joe R. Lansdale, il film è a metà fra l'horror e la commedia, basandosi molto sulla bravura degli attori protagonisti. Malgrado il protagonista del film sia Elvis Presley, famoso cantante di fama internazionale, nella pellicola sono completamente assenti sue canzoni, così come qualsiasi altro riferimento al "Re" del rock. Il motivo è semplice, come dice il regista stesso: gli elevati costi dei diritti d'autore erano fuori dalla portata del basso costo del film. Girato a Los Angeles ( California), esce negli USA il 9 giugno 2002. In Italia viene presentato il 26 settembre 2004 nell'ambito della mostra Ravenna Nightmare Film Festival. Il film venne pubblicato in DVD in Italia il 26 maggio 2010. In realtà il vero Elvis, stanco del successo e di tutto ciò ad esso legato, anni addietro aveva stretto un patto proprio con Haff: si sarebbero scambiati le vite, ma in ogni momento potevano riprendersele.
